1935: Young Adult Ministry Update

2023-2-7 | Pastor Chuck Potts

Our 1935 group had a great lunch together on January 29. After taking some time to chat and play a game together, we made some decisions on plans for upcoming 1935 events. As announced previously, this group for young adults (roughly ages 19 to 35) would like to be gathering monthly to connect with one another and build community together. So here is what we decided AND ways that others in the church are welcome to get involved:

Sunday, March 19th: 1935 Lunch and Games

After worship until 1:30pm in the Great Room

All young adults are invited to come and play games! Unless lunch is donated, this will be a B.Y.O.Lunch.

HOW CAN YOU HELP:

  1. Again, if you’d like to sponsor this meal by donating or by bringing food, please let me know, or else we will keep this one a B.Y.O.Lunch
  2. Again we will need 2 or 3 childcare helpers.

Tuesday, April 25th: 1935 Progressive Dinner

Times TBD

Details for this event are still in the works. The idea comes from the fact that two or three non-1935 church members have expressed interest in ways to help out or provide for this ministry. SO, the hope is to have three homes that are willing to host our young adults for a progressive dinner. I am also working on plans to potentially make it some sort of “mystery dinner”, but like I said, details are still in the works.

HOW CAN YOU HELP:

  1. If you would be interested in hosting a group of young adults in your home for either the appetizer, entrée, or dessert portion of our dinner, please let me know! There will most likely be anywhere from 10 to 20 young adults, depending on who’s able to attend. If we are unable to find 3 homes that are able to host, we will make alternative plans.
  2. Again we will need 2 or 3 childcare helpers, but since we will be leaving them at the church for this progressive dinner, at least 2 will need to be adults and not student helpers.

As one of the 19 to 35 year old young adults in this church (at least for a few more days), I just want to say how grateful I am for a church that sees us and provides intentional care for us through this ministry. We love being a part of this multi-generational church, but are also grateful when we have these times to build community and connect whenever we get a chance. Your support, prayers, and giving of your time or resources to make it possible are very much appreciated!

For any questions, comments or if you’d like to help in any of the ways listed above, please don’t hesitate to contact me via phone or e-mail, or find me on Sunday morning to chat!
