Answer the Call from the Hero Hotline! Summer XP 2023

2023-4-18 | Pastor Kristin Mueller

We’re looking forward to a week at Miller Elementary School, where for 5 evenings in June, we fill the hallways with music, games, Bible stories, science, crafts, and fun! It’s time for our annual week of Summer XP!

This year we’ll work together to bring peace into our community as we answer the call at the Hero Hotline Headquarters. At Hero Hotline, everyone’s gifts are valued and each Hero has a role to play. Our Heroes (the kids at Summer XP) will receive a call with a new assignment each day, and we’ll explore the files and database of the Hero Hotline to discover how Heroes can work together to bring peace.

We’ll learn that peace comes from God, and as God’s people we are called to share that peace with the world. We’ll work together, help one another, and encourage one another because God has called us to live in community and fellowship with one another. Our theme verse for the week is Romans 14:19: “So let’s strive for the things that bring peace and the things that build each other up” (CEB).

We meet in the evenings of June 5-9, with dinner served for families at 6 pm and classes happening for children from 6:30-8:30. All our kids begin in the gym together for an opening time of worship, and then we rotate through different stations. Children will hear a Bible story, play a game, take part in a science experiment, and complete a craft or activity as they go through the evening.

Speaking of children – do you know someone who would enjoy a week of dinner and Bible stories? It’s time to get them registered! Information can be found on our website at ecclife.net/xp, and you can send people directly there. We’ll also have a fun display set up at ECC in the weeks ahead, and we encourage you to take an invitation to share with a child that you know.

We invite kids who will be entering Kindergarten through entering 5th grade in the fall of 2023 to participate in Summer XP. If you are serving in some capacity, we do have nursery and preschool childcare and activities available for your children while you help. If you have a middle school student, we do invite middle school students to serve, and we ask that they work alongside a caring adult who knows and loves them. If you’ve got a high school student, your high schooler can fully participate as a helper or leader!

Leaders are always an integral part of our Summer XP week, and this year is no different! You can serve one evening, or you can serve all five. We have openings for people to help with every part of the week, from registration, to meal serving, to guiding groups, to bandaging up scraped knees. We need all the gifts given to Christ’s body to help make this week a great experience for our kids.

We’re looking to host Summer XP in a way that our kids hear stories of God’s great love for them, are invited into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and have tons of fun as they follow God and grow closer in relationship with God and with each other! Please pray with us that God uses this week to bring peace in our lives, in our families, and in our community.

To register as a child or as a helper, you can sign up online at ecclife.net/xp. There are opportunities for you to help before Summer XP, one or two evenings during the week, or all week long. We’d love to see you there!
