Coffee with Kent and Jean

2023-3-7 | Pastor Kurt Kincanon

One of the most exciting things a church can do is be a part of sending its attenders into the world as full-time missionaries. Over the years, we have been blessed to see both children who grow up in the church and those who come to us as college students and adults following God’s call to missions.

ECC’s Mission Commission is inviting you to Coffee with current supported missionaries Kent and Jean this coming Saturday, March 11, at 1pm in the Great Room.  Due to the intensity of their schedule, it has been a few years since we have been able to host Kent and Jean at ECC, and we are delighted to have them with us for a short time this coming Saturday. ECC has been blessed to partner with Kent and Jean in ministry both prayerfully and financially since 2004. Kent and Jean are excited to be back and will give updates about their church planting ministry in East Asia.

Jean joined the full-time ministry in 1995. She served as a Bridge International staff member to reach out to the Chinese international students at Purdue University from 1995-2000. During her time in Lafayette, Jean attended ECC and was part of a small group at ECC. Then she married Kent and moved back to East Asia to focus on national staff development. She received her MA in Spiritual Formation from Talbot Seminary in 2008.

Kent also joined the full-time ministry in 1995 and ministered on college campuses for over 15 years in East Asia. He graduated from Talbot School of Theology with a master's in missions in 2008. He obtained his Doctor of Ministry degree from Talbot in 2016, focusing on biblical mentoring and leadership development. He has led multicultural teams and developed full-time ministry leaders at various levels of leadership.

Kent was ordained as a pastor in 2012. Since 2016, Kent and Jean have served in the Global Church Movement at CRU Headquarters to assist in developing church planting movements in East Asia. In 2016, they implemented the East Asia GATL program and have been involved in teaching and supervising since then. In 2021, Kent was appointed as Global Church Movement East Asia region team leader. Kent and Jean are committed to the development of next-generation leaders.

Even if you have not yet met Kent and Jean, we hope you will join to hear how God is using them to advance his kingdom around the world.
