We’re excited that this summer, we will meet together for Summer XP once again! Last year, we were just starting to figure out online ministry, and we had fun making videos and meeting with kids on Zoom for our week of Summer XP. This year, we are thrilled that our week together is live and in person once again!
Summer XP is our week of summer Bible school for kids, hosted in the evenings at Miller Elementary School. We meet in the evenings from June 14-18, with dinner served for families at 6 pm and classes happening for children from 6:30-8:00. We are going through all the proper channels to confirm that we can meet at Miller, and that is our hope and plan for now. We do anticipate that we’ll use our outside space more than we have in the past! We’ll be sure to keep everyone up-to-date on any location changes.
During the week, we invite kids who will be entering Kindergarten through entering 5th grade in the fall of 2021 to participate. Since we’re just starting back up, we won’t have any extended classes beyond these ages. If you are volunteering, we do have childcare available for your children while you help. If you have a middle school student, we do invite middle school students to volunteer, and we ask that they work alongside a caring adult who knows and loves them. If you’ve got a high school student, your high schooler can fully participate as a regular volunteer!
Volunteers are always an integral part of our Summer XP week, and this year is no different! We may shift how we lead the classes so that we stay in compliance with the county Health Department with size limits on gathering. We may also shift so that we can better utilize the volunteers that we have! We’re looking at a model we’ve used in the past, where kids move from station to station, and volunteers act as guides accompanying the children. This allows a storytelling team, a games team, and an activity team to really focus well on one component and repeat that same component each evening.
We’re looking to host Summer XP in a way that our kids hear stories of God’s great love for them, are invited into a relationship with Jesus Christ, and have tons of fun as they follow God and grow closer in relationship with God and with each other! We’ll be using the same theme we used last year of “Focus” because there are many wonderful resources that we still haven’t used. We hope that you will join us as we Focus on God and take a closer look at God's plan for our lives!
