Join us for Friday Night at the Movies

2022-10-18 | Pastor Kristin Mueller

What do you think of when the weather begins to change and the leaves begin to fall? In our house, we get excited about campfire weather, when things are just a little cooler and we can roast marshmallows over the fire. The kids start planning costumes for October, and they begin to imagine pumpkin buckets full of all their favorite candy.

This fall at ECC, we want to invite you to join us as we bring many of these fall highlights to life! On Friday night, October 28, we’ll host “Friday Night at the Movies,” right here on our ECC campus. We’ll set up a big movie screen, have plenty of popcorn and candy, and serve hot chocolate and hot cider to help take away any chill in the air.

We’ve hosted Trunk or Treat events in the past, but this year we’re planning a night where people of all ages can spend time together and enjoy some of the treats that the season brings. Wea Creek Orchard will bring over their wagon, so that we can give hay rides around ECC’s land. We have a bonfire pit just south of the soccer fields, and we’ll have some marshmallows to roast. Costumes are encouraged, and people of all ages are welcome to dress up – just be sure that you won’t scare any little ones who are here with us!

As it gets dark that night, we’ll show “Monsters, Inc.” on a large outdoor screen that we’ll set up on the soccer field. Seating will be on the grass, so plan to bring along lawn chairs and blankets to make your spot comfortable and cozy.

The whole event begins at 6:30pm and will run until the movie finishes. We’ll be collecting candy in the days ahead, so if you are able to donate treats, please bring your bag of candy to ECC’s main lobby by Monday, October 24. We plan to send treat bags home with all the kids (and kids-at-heart).

If you’d like to serve with us, we’ll have opportunities for people to help with drinks, food, and keeping the bonfire going. We’ll also have people assemble candy bags before the event. Please sign up here and let us know that you’d like to help!

This event is free and open to our whole congregation, so invite a friend, embrace this fall season with us, and we’ll see you at the movies!
