In just a few weeks, schools across the area will be starting up for the 2021-2022 school year. After a rough year last year because of the Covid pandemic and the resulting precautions that were taken, we are excited to announce that Lafayette School Corporation is allowing volunteers back into the schools! Our ministry at Miller Elementary School will be able to fully resume! We were able to help in some ways last school year but not to the extent we’ve been used to. This will be our 15th year of partnering with the school in various capacities! God has been faithful over the years and we have been blessed as we have sought to bless others!
Luke 10:27 says “Love your neighbor as yourself”; our work at Miller is a wonderful way to live out that command. Have you considered being a part of our Community Outreach Team? Are you ready to do something different or outside of your normal activities? I invite you to start praying about joining us in the exciting ministry that God has allowed us to be a part of!
An immediate need is on August 6 from approximately 5:15 to 7:30 PM. We will partner with Bauer Community Center and the school to host a Back To School Carnival. It’s a great way to welcome the children back to school and to help them get excited about the new school year. This year will be especially fun since last year our event was a “car”nival (drive through) to keep everyone safe. ECC hosts the dinner that evening and has multiple game areas that we are in charge of. Help is needed with the food portion and with manning the games. Please sign up here.
Beginning in September, there will be many ways that you can be a part of our outreach ministry. Opportunities are available to help in individual classrooms, the library, at lunch or recess, with afterschool tutoring, to be a mentor, or a MakerSpace helper. We will also be resuming our monthly family night meals at Miller and will need volunteers for food prep and serving. We will be giving more details about these areas at a later date.
We are so blessed by our participation at Miller Elementary School. It will be fun to see how God uses us this new school year.
